Letter to Clubs and Coaches
The Ontario Speed Skating Association has recently introduced and distributed Bands to members of the 2007-2008 Provincial Training Team and Provincial Development Team. The Bands are the result of a directive from the membership at the 2006 OSSA AGM, which the board pushed to fulfill this season.
The intent of the band is to identify skaters as members of OSSA's 2007-2008 Provincial Team, when wearing their club suit at provincial competitions. The Band allows a member to be recognized for the achievements that have placed them on the Provincial Team, allows a club to be recognized for developing a skater onto the Provincial Team, and showcases a top Ontario skater.
OSSA has encouraged the members of 2007-2008 Provincial Team to proudly wear the Band at competitions and training camps. OSSA asks that you join the association in encouraging members of your club on the Provincial Team to wear their Band to show personal pride in their achievements, appreciation towards their club, and representation of Ontario's best.
While the Bands were initially meant to be used as arm-bands they work equally well as leg-bands. Taylor Schmidt and Hayley Roberts eagerly modeled the Bands, used as leg-band, during the 3rd Western Regional competition as can be seen in the photo to the right.
OSSA hopes that you will share its pride for the members of the Provincial Team by encouraging them to wear the Bands, and identify the purpose of the bands to the members of your club so that they too can share the pride.
Sincerely,
Todd Landon
